The first product we will be teaching is DETERGENT POWDER MAKING.

Common definition, detergent powder is a type of washing soap, in a form powder which is called laundry detergent or washing powder.  This type of soap became popular due it dissolves to water easily and has strong power of cleansing. This is a mixture of chemical compounds that serve as the cleaning agent. Basic composition of detergent powder soap are the following:

• Surfactant -  A surfactant or Surface-Active-Agent and serves the major components of detergent soap. This act as the 'workhorses': they do the basic work of breaking up stains and keeping the dirt in the water solution to prevent re-deposition of the dirt onto the surface from which it has just been removed. Surfactants disperse dirt that normally does not dissolve in water.    

• Builder -  Serves as detergent filler. This is added in detergents to alter their physical characteristics and properties. The objective of adding fillers to detergents is to make detergents fluid or to turn the fluidized detergents in powder form. Generally the fillers are bulk components in various detergents with their primary role to modify and alter the physical properties of the material.  We can also define detergent fillers as additives that can be added in detergents to improve the cleansing performance.  

• Cleaning booster agent -  An ingredient that penetrate in and out of the fabric. This ingredient is added to enhance the performance of detergent powder particularly in washing heavy dirty to wash fabric, dishware and hard surface. This is designed basically for greasy and oily fabrics. In addition, this prevents hard water from bonding with the detergent, allowing for a more even distribution of the cleaning agent during the washing cycle.  

• Anti re-deposition agent -  Anti re-deposition agent. This ingredient help prevent fine dirt particles from combining and thus keep them in suspension in the wash water and prevents dirt from settling back into clothes during washing.   

• Additives - are other ingredients that may be added to the formulation to further enhance the physical appearance of the detergent powder that helps to make your soap attractive to the consumers, some enhances the level of foam or bubbles, some were added to make your detergent powder smell good, and there are ingredient added that helps protect your hands/skin from drying.  This attracts and hold moisture to the skin. These additives include speckles, bubble booster, scent, and moisturizer.

This blog will teach you how to make your own detergent powder which can be used for household daily consumption and even for homebased income generating purposes. See below for the formulation of Detergent Powder Making. This formula is socially and environmentally friendly that will really satisfy the needs of every consumers. It has good scent and moisturizer that protects your hand/skin from drying. The ingredients are dissolve quickly in all types of water and in all water temperatures while its good cleaning performance. 

Our formulation available in several varieties for your personal washing needs such as: ariel scents, sampaguita, nature fresh, downy scent, and sunflower.

Lesson 1 -  DETERGENT POWDER MAKING:  

This formulation will produce you 14 Kilograms of Detergent Powder (Hand Wash Type)

FORMULATION:

      6.0        Kg.      Maxi-base

      4.0        Kg.      SO-28/Builder

      3.0        Kg.      SD-Alkali

  500.0        Kg.      A-Foam Plus

  120.0       ml.      Moisturizer

    30.0       ml.      Scent (of your choice)

    50.0          g.      Speckles

    50.0          g       CMC

  100.0       ml.      Tap Water

PROCEDURE:

1. Mix Maxi-Base, SD Alkali, A-Foam Plus, CMC and SO-28/Builder in a basin

2. Mix the ingredients well with your hands until it becomes powdery and free from lumps.

3. Using a sprayer, Add and mix Water, Moisturizer and Scent and spray evenly while mixing the ingredients.

4. Add sprinkle Speckles and then mix with your hands and Set aside

5. Package and label your finish product as desired

NOTE: Always wear GLOVES/MASK to avoid any allergic reaction
